Hi Flyers: It was a beautiful day at the sod farm today. One reason is that some of the fields have lovely thick grass growing on them. I hope the former zoysia field is soon planted. I miss the grass.
There were four of us out today. Me, Brendan, Mark G. and Chris. The weather was pleasantly warm and the wind was virtually zero with only thermal wind shifts back and fourth. The thermal activity was surprisingly light. I expected some strong lift but all we found all day was very light scattered bubbles.
This worked well for the DLG planes and the flights were long and sweet.
Brendan set up a winch and I got some good practice comparing early and late zooms. I think early is better.
Chris set up a very short high start that gave 100 - 120 foot launches. With the light lift it was a real challenge to make 7 minutes. But Chris did so about 1/2 the time. I didn't do too badly with the Graphite2 scratching out some decent flights several times. But nowhere near as well as Chris.
And Chris was his usual happy self. Several times asking me "Why did you make two left turns and then land? Huh, Robert? Huh, Robert?"
Ever feel like doing a midair on purpose? No, I didn't do that. Really. I didn't even think about it. Really. No, seriously, really!
Doppler was out and it is always good to see her. Now her owner....... I'm not always sure. JUST KIDDING!
Another delightful day flying at the field.
